100-Speed Capacitive Touch Slider + Multi-Speed Pulse

Get seamless precision speed control for 100 speeds with the slide of a finger. It even tells you which speed to use for stirring, chopping, mixing, blending, or pureeing. Use Multi-Speed Pulse for an added burst of power at any speed.

Preprogrammed Blend Cycles

Six preprogrammed custom cycles enable one-touch blending perfection: Smoothie, Salsa, Ice Cream, Whole Juice, Hot Soup, and Clean. The Designer 725 even suggests additional uses for each cycle so you know how to get the most from your blender.

Debbie Buddle (Clinical Nutritionist & Raw food cafe owner) has used many machines extensively over her 14+yrs, including the well reputed Vitamix.  Here is her synopsis on the differences:

Because of the wide square base of this blender, cleaning is a breeze. Add some dishwashing liquid & water, pulse a few times, rinse, and it's clean. Nothing goes to waste. With it's wide square shape, nothing gets stuck around the base, as in a typical blender.  I found the Vitamix hard to get out the ingredients from around the blade.

Food processor functionality. Throw in some onions, carrots, etc. and pulse and you have a nice chopped product; making soup very simple.

The Blendtec will grind grain- the vitamix needs a seperate container. It does an excellent job of turning wheat to flour. You are limit to about 2 cups of grain at a time, so not ideal for huge bread baking projects, but for every day flour needs, the Blendtec does a great job.

Very fine smoothies; Frozen fruit and greens come out so smooth- there's no texture difference. Throw in whole raw seeds (flax seeds, etc) and they are ground super fine.  You need a stick for the Vitamix and the result is not as fine.

Homemade raw sauces are easy; throw in a few apples, cinnamon, and water and in a few moments you have raw applesauce, plus you get the nutritional benefits of the peel. You only have to quarter the apple (de-coring is optional).  Make pasta sauce from whole tomatoes, fresh salsa, and other sauces in a matter of minutes.

The Blendtec turns off automatically; simply push the desired setting and let the machine go to work. You don't have to stand there and hold the lid down or wait to turn it off. The Blendtec has specific digital touchpad settings for every job and it will turn off automatically when the task is down. The ideal multi-task machine!

Its compact and yet EXTREMELY powerful. This machine has a 3.8 HP direct-drive motor and yet doesn't require any additional counterspace. The Vitamix is 1200W and 2 HP.

Additionally- the digital touchpad makes it simple to use and easy to meet every task. The Vitamix is manual.

Durable and professional. Blendtec is used in professional businesses, such as coffee & juice shops- known for its quality and durability.

Simplicity in action. You can replace up to nine other kitchen appliances with this easy-to-use countertop blender-no need for a separate grain mill, juicer, bread machine, ice-cream maker, smoothie maker, blender, milkshake maker, coffee grinder, or ice crusher. The all-in-one appliance makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, breads, dressings, salsas, and more. It can even turn ice to snow and comes with an ice-crushing guarantee.

Blendtec can make ice cream, fondues & nut butters.  It can knead bread dough, even prepare AND heat soups. It can knead one loaf of bread, a dozen muffins, or a loaf of sweet bread at a time.

Your Blendtec also comes with a comprehensive recipe book.

In conclusion, if you were to invest in one machine that would help you transition to a whole foods lifestyle, this would be the item I would recommend! If you cannot afford a separate grain mill, go with the simplicity of this blender.

Why I chose a Blendtec over a Vitamix?

Vitamix is similar to Blendtec & commonly known because of their extensive consumer marketing. Whereas Blendtec is the choice among professionals. First, the Blendtec fits under your countertop. The jar that comes with the Vitamix is too tall to store under the average countertop. You have to store it separately or purchase the additional smaller jar. One jar with the Blendtec does it all.  The Vitamix has two different jars to accomplish all these tasks (the second jar is an additional cost). The Vitamix does not turn off by itself and has two different switches that have to be adjusted carefully during the preparation process.
